The safety of the VL3

A safe device

For JMB Aircraft, safety is a priority!

The VL3 is certified and tested in collaboration with the Aerospace Institute of the Czech Republic.

It has been successfully tested for ultimate loads up to +15 G’s and – 8G’s

On the one hand, its Full-Carbon Kevlar design makes it light and strong. On the other hand, since the cabin is made of Kevlar, it protects its occupants in case of impact.

  • Dropout Prevention (AOA)
  • Stall strips on leading edges
  • TCAS: Traffic and Collision Avoidance System
  • ELT distress beacon
  • Certified belts
  • Certified canopy and antenna

The parachute

The parachute system is designed to protect occupants in an emergency by lowering the aircraft to the ground after deployment.

In case of an in-flight emergency, simply pull the red handle. This one initiates the deployment of a solid fuel rocket through a hatch that covers the compartment where the parachute is stored.

When the rocket carries the parachute backwards from the front of the aircraft, the aircraft’s harness straps are released from the fuselage.

Steering assistance

First of all, the VL3 keeps you safe up to 450 km/h TAS.

To increase your safety, the VL3 can be equipped with TCAS (Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance). If other aircraft are in the vicinity, you will receive a visual and audible alert on your EFIS and headset.

An ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) can also be installed in the event of an emergency landing to allow SAR services to locate you quickly.

Most VL3 aircraft are also equipped with an autopilot. Activate the leveling function and the aircraft will automatically stabilize.

The angle of attack (AOA) indicator will warn you when you are approaching the critical angle of attack before stalling.

Stall strips are installed near the fuselage to improve the controllability of the aircraft as it enters the stall position.

Possibility to install a TO-GA (Take-off/Go-Around) function, also called “Take-off/Go-around” which is an “automatic/automated” piloting parameter activating the thrust at take-off or at go-around, simply by pressing a switch.

Possibility to add the “Smart Glide” function, an intelligent system to determine which airports are within a safe gliding distance (and even warns the pilot when there is none) and to automatically navigate directly to the one of your choice.
